We specialise in the development of innovative on-farm technologies and solutions for assessing animal health and welfare to advance decision-making abilities for farmers.

One of our key areas of expertise is in the field of infrared thermography (IRT) technology.  Current projects involve integrating this technology into automated in-shed systems such as automated drafting gates, milking systems and feeders. This technology combined with electronic ID, means that potentially real time thermal biometric information on individual cows can be provided to the farmer to improve animal productivity, health and welfare.

In close collaboration with universities and research institutes in New Zealand and Canada and Dr Allan Schaefer, Animal Inframetrics Inc., we have developed to the proof of concept stage, examples of the automated measurement systems and interpretation methods that would be required to provide this information to farmers and to be incorporated into other shed technologies.
